I obtained the three years degree in Molecular Biotechnology in 2003 and the two years Master in Bioinformatics in 2006, both at the University of Milano-Bicocca. During the Bachelor thesis project I dealt with data analysis of microarrays, using bioinformatics and statistical tools. In the Master thesis project I dealt with planning and creation of Publime (Published Lists of Microarray Experiments), a mySQL database to collect published gene expression signatures, enabled for cross-platform gene annotation [http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16351740][http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16760672][http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17389643][http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18781200]. During this period I learnt perl programming, database and website developing and a number of bioinformatics tools for microarray and downstream analysis.

In 2003 I obtained the Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biotechnology and in 2006 the Master in Bioinformatics both at the University of Milano-Bicocca. During my first thesis project I dealt with microarray data analysis, using bioinformatics tool, in particular for cluster analysis. In the second thesis project I dealt with planning and creation of a database in which it is possible to interrogate lists of genes, published in literature, that they introduce levels of expression altered in particular conditions. For less than two years (April 2006 - 31 December 2007) I worked at Primm, a biotech company, as bioinformatics and informatics technician. Here I was involved in database management, lab automation and developing of bioinformatics and management tools.

In 2006 I started to work at Primm, an international company in the area of biotechnology services, as bioinformatics and informatics technician. Here I was involved in database management of Microsoft SQL server, lab automation, development of bioinformatics and management tools in Visual Basic .NET and perl and web tools in ASP .NET.
From January 2008 to December 2009, I worked at the IFOM-IEO Campus in Milan as bioinformatician in sharing with two groups: the Cogentech Mass Spectrometry Unit and the "Proteomics and functional genomics for the analysis of the different level of gene expression regulation" group. In both groups my principal aim is the analysis of quantitative proteomics data (respectively iTraq and SILAC), developing also tools and scripts in Perl and R.

In the Master thesis project I dealt with planning and creation of Publime (Published Lists of Microarray Experiments), a mySQL database to collect published gene expression signatures, enabled for cross-platform gene annotation [1][2][3][4]. During this period I learnt perl programming, database and website developing and a number of bioinformatics tools for microarray and downstream analysis.

In 2006 I started to work at Primm, an international company in the area of biotechnology services, as bioinformatics and informatics technician. In both groups my principal aim was the statistical analysis of qualitative, quantitative proteomics data, developing tools and scripts in perl and R-Bioconductor.

My work at the Bioinformatics Unit:

  • qualitative, quantitative and statistical analysis of transcriptomics and proteomics data
  • R pipelines development for data analysis
  • downstream analyses
  • development of wiki lab service LIMS

Activities:

  • Short tutorials on "Extracting biological meaning from large gene list with DAVID (PPT)
